The first positive case of Covid-19 has been recorded in the Twin Towns of Harden-Murrumburrah with a man who resides from outside the LGA stating he had received a positive result for the virus on Saturday.

The Times understands the man was part of a crew of railway workers, all of whom resided outside the Hilltops local Government area.

   The Lighthouse Hotel in Murrumburrah posted information to Facebook pertaining to the case at 11 am Monday morning. It stated, “We understand there is some angst in our local community around news of a COVID – positive visitor who was staying with us recently. You are all a part of our The Light Horse Hotel Murrumburrah family and it is important to us all that we be as open and transparent in order to address any community concerns. Unfortunately while we have had a COVID – positive case staying in the accommodation section of our pub, all close contacts who were working or staying at the pub have been already notified and we will be following all advice provided by NSW Health. As a result, we will be unable to continue providing takeaway at this time while our team self isolates as a safety precaution.  The pub will also be undergoing a deep clean as a safety precaution and we hope to see you all again soon as it is safe to do so.”

The workers checked in to the Pub on Friday and had negative results from tests taken on the Tuesday. They presented their essential permits for workers outside of their LGA and had all of the documentation and followed all protocols as did the Hotel.

    The company the man worked for did everything they needed to in notifying the Hotel and the Hotel have been continuing to work with NSW Health.

The men were active in the community and were spending their money in the town on essential items in a number of local businesses during their short stay. The list of these businesses is yet to be released by NSW Health.

     The man’s wife was first notified that she was positive which triggered the testing of the workers who travelled to Yass to be tested, as no other facilities were open at the time.

The man’s result came back positive and the rest of the workers were told to self isolate in their homes.
