Today New South Wales recorded 1,029 cases as well as three deaths, all of these people were unvaccinated.
Regional NSW Lockdown will remain in lockdown until at least midnight of Friday September 10.
Premier Gladys Berejiklian said the extension is due to the ongoing concern of cases particularly around the Dubbo area.
Deputy Premier John Barilaro said 35 cases in Western New South Wales with Dubbo recording majority of the cases.
“The decision to extend the lockdown is one to protect communities and protect the regions. We’re sitting on a knife-edge. It’s a tinderbox ready to explode.”
“I do apologise to those communities that don’t have cases today. But I put it this way: one of the reasons you may not have cases is because of the restrictions in place, minimising movement, because we know we’re a very interconnected community in regional and rural New South Wales.”
From September 13 for people that live outside the LGAs of concern, outdoor gatherings of up to five people will be allowed, all adults must be vaccinated, these five people include children.
These five people must be from the same LGA or 5 kilometres from home.
There are no active cases of COVID-19 in the Hilltops Council or Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council.
