Today New South Wales recorded 644 new cases of COVID-19.

642 of these new cases were locally acquired, while two cases were acquired overseas.

27 of these cases were recorded in Western New South Wales.

This brings the total number of cases in NSW since January 25 to 16,164.

There have been 5,606,572 doses of COVID-19 vaccinations administered in the state since February.

Yesterday, NSW Health announced that statewide lockdown will be extended until at least 12.01am on August 28th.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian announced at this morning’s press conference that from midnight Monday masks must be worn at all times while outside except for exercising.

The Central Coast and Shellharbour LGAs will now be classified as regional and will come out of lockdown when with the rest of regional NSW.

Also announced at this morning’s press conference, Greater Sydney will be in lockdown until the end of September with a curfew introduced in the 12 LGAs of concern.

There are no active cases of COVID-19 in the Hilltops or Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council areas.

Please follow the current Public Health Orders and stay at home unless you have a reasonable excuse to leave.

A reasonable excuse is if you need to:

– obtain food or other goods and services locally

– leave home to go to work if, you cannot reasonably work from home and the business   is allowed to be open

– leave home for education if it is not possible to do it at home

– exercise and take outdoor recreation within your local government area or, if you need to cross into another local government area, stay within 5km of your home

– go out for medical or caring reasons, including obtaining a COVID-19 vaccination.
