Local Harden Girl Tara McGrath-West has signed with EXCEL Sports Management.
The EXCEL team said “She (Tara) brings along that tough mentality to have her hometown be proud of her achievements.”
Tara said she was quite excited when she found out EXCEL wanted to sign her.
When asked why Tara signed with EXCEL Tara said “John (Tara’s manager) reminds me of a lot of people in my life that I look to for advice.”
“I feel very comfortable and can trust him to have my best interests in mind.”
Tara also liked what they bought to her as a player as well.
Tara is now signed to the same Sports Management label as current Brisbane Broncos NRLW player and former Queensland Red Shannon Mato.
So far the Wentworthville Magpies season has been “very up and down” only having won one game.
“We have been impacted by a few injuries.” Tara said.
“Our effort has been lacking a bit in some areas but our skills are there. When we put in the effort we are a competitive team.” Tara said.
In their most recent game against Central Coast Roosters on Saturday, the Magpies finished with 12 players and were beaten 26-4 by a side that boasts multiple NRLW players such as Hannah Southwell and Yasmin Meakes.
There has been some improvement within the Magpies team who have shown to be a competitive side after losing 78-0 when they played Central Coast back in round 3.
The Wentworthville Magpies will play the North Sydney Bears at the New South Wales Rugby League Centre of Excellence on Monday evening.
Tara believes to beat North Sydney the team needs to have a stronger start to the game.
“We get to a point in the half were we are playing at our best. We need to get to that point earlier and carry it through the full game.”
“I think that if we go in with a lot more effort and stick to our game plan I think we will be able to get over the Bears.”
The Wentworthville Magpies and North Sydney Bears match will be live streamed on NSWRL’s Facebook page from 7pm.
