Chloe Wade will be running a marathon on July 4 to raise money for breast cancer and honour the memory of her Aunt Fran.

Fran Wade passed away in November last year from breast cancer and never got to complete her dream of running a marathon.

Fran was always a runner and ran many kilometres a month before she passed. She completed many half marathons but never completed her goal of running a full marathon.

This is what inspired Chloe to run the marathon and raise money towards breast cancer.

Chloe will be running 42.2 kilometres alongside her uncle and Fran’s husband Jade, to complete Fran’s dream of running a marathon.

Chloe said that the support and love from the local community as well as strangers has given her the determination to complete the challenge.

The year 11 student is finding preparing for a marathon quite challenging as she juggles study and other commitments as well as training for a marathon.

“I definitely underestimated this challenge.”

“The support from my running partners, Uncle Jade and my father Adam, family and friends has made this journey just that little bit easier.” Chloe said.

Chloe believes that the hardest part about running the marathon is the training and the constant pressure on her body from running 40 to 50 kilometres a week.

“The pain and struggles I come across during my training is nothing compared to what a cancer patient would be going through.” Chloe said.

When asked how she thinks the marathon will go Chloe said if it was 30 kilometres she would feel a lot better. “The last 12 kilometres will definitely not be my best friend.”

Chloe believes that running the 42.2 kilometres may be the most challenging thing she ever does but she will not give in and keep going to the end.

“The strength my Aunty showed throughout her cancer journey will build my strength.”

“I know she’ll be with me every step I take.”
