Up to 28 market stores will join local Emergency Services on April 17 at the Harden Emergency Services Open Day from 10am to 2pm at the Harden Showgrounds.

This include local unit’s SES, Fire and Rescue, Rescue Fire and Services, Police, and Ambulance.

NSW SES Deputy Commissioner Daniel Austin will be given a tour of the newly opened RFS Fire Control Centre and then taken onboard on a convoy around town.

Emergency Services vehicles will travel in a convoy fashion along Albury Street, past the newly painted silos and then the creek, then making its way back to the Showgrounds.

Besides a tour for the Deputy Commissioner, the purpose of the convoy is to provide a physical presence of the Emergency Services, with sirens on when it passes through town.

Convoy times will begin at 9.20am and conclude at 9.50am.

At the Showgrounds, there will be an assortment variety of stalls and this includes woodwork goods, candles, home décor, handmade crafts and bric-a-brac.

In addition, there will be a variety of local businesses on offer and Twin Town Treasures and a mobile café cart coming from Cootamundra to name a few.

First aid medical staff will also be present on the day at the stall area.

With tons of machinery on the day, kids will have plenty to be mesmerised with when they speak to our local heroes in their uniforms.

Harden SES Acting Commander Centaine Walters said she is looking forward to the Open Day after months of planning.

“If we get new members signing-up on the day, that will be a huge bonus,” she said.

“The Open Day is more about community presence for us and getting out there and re-engaging with the community, as well as building relationships out there. It’s about letting the community know who we are, the faces behind the emergency services in town.

“And coming from a year we had last year with the lockdowns, this day is all about having a breather.”

Since Acting Commander Walters got onboard in August last year there were only five members.

There are 10 active members at the Harden SES unit today.

At the Emergency Services Open Day, patrons are expected to sign-in, adhere to social-distancing measures as well as practice sanitising methods.

There will also be a maximum cap of 3,000 patrons.
