Members of the Twin Town community rose before dawn to attend the Newson Park Dawn Service, set down for 6:00am today. Last year saw the cancellation of the commemoration service due to Covid-19.

2021 has seen a return to normality, with a large crowd attending the Dawn Service this morning.

Tim O’Keeffe welcomed those who had gathered before the hymn, Abide with me was sung.

Reverend David Rajasekaram read from the 23rd Psalm before a wreath was laid by Chapter Representative Eric Kuhn.

The Ode of Remembrance was read followed by the last Post and the Reveille played by Hayden Dalton.

Both the New Zealand Anthem and God Defend New ZealandAotearoa and the Australian Anthem Advance Australia Fair were played before the service concluded at 6:20am

The morning service will be held at 11:00am at Newson Park with those marching asked to meet at the Mechanic’s Institute at 10:30am to form up and commence the March at 10:45am.
