Ros Bickford with Ambassador Graham Ross.

Ros has lived in Harden since the end of 2010, where she threw herself into community groups and activities. She is a volunteer and contributor to a number of groups, including Harden View Club, Can Assist, Harden Gold Trail, Team Harden, Country Women’s Association and the NSW State Emergency Service.

She has served in a variety of roles as secretary, publicity officer and chairperson for these organisations. The SES member has been this year’s citizen as her greatest commitment in the community, transferring to the Harden unit in January 2011 from the Hornsby unit, where she had served for 3 years. After undertaking necessary training, she became a qualified field operator.

In Dec 2014 she was appointed Deputy Controller of the Unit and then Local Controller in 2015. An incredible amount of work has transformed the unit into a self-sustaining unit meeting the needs of the Harden community and Boorowa communities.

She is now also involved in the Hilltops Local Emergency Management Committee and Rescue Emergency Management Committee as part of her role as Local Controller of the SES.
