• Junior Citizen of the Year Having just completed the HSC this young person could be sitting back relaxing with his mates. Instead, he spends much of his time entertaining and volunteering, not only in the Hilltops area, but can often be found in Canberra, Wagga and other regional towns. He’s also very busy on social media, with about 15,000 followers on Instagram and a quarter of a million streams of his debut album, ”Octothorpe” on Spotify. Instead of sitting around when Covid hit and live music came to a virtual standstill, this young man channelled his time and energy into writing original music and has turned into an internationally recognised artist. He had several opportunities for live interviews on regional as well as national radio stations. The International Songwriting Competition (ISC) run out of Nashville; USA is held each year. It is an annual song contest whose mission is to provide the opportunity for both aspiring and established songwriters to have their songs heard in a professional, international arena. ISC is designed to nurture the musical talent of songwriters on all levels and promote excellence in the art of songwriting. In May 2020, our junior citizen of the year was the winner of the People’s Voice Award with his song “Hit me while I’m down.” He has also won the Australian National Busking championship twice, has a critically acclaimed EP (which contains more than a single but not more than an album of music) called, “From my side of the stage.” His launch of his music video, “6 hours away” had over 120,000 views on YouTube in just a week. He has also been featured in a number of music magazines during 2020 and will feature in the December issue of “It Girl” magazine. I would like to announce and congratulate Harry Cleverdon as the winner of the Junior Citizen of the Year award.
