Rose Adler OAM with His Excellency the Honourable David Hurley in Canberra on Monday.

On September 14, Twin Town’s very own Local Legend Rose Adler was presented with the Order of Australia medal at Government House in Canberra.

The Investiture Ceremony was streamed live on Governor-General of Australia’s YouTube channel and Rose’s presentation can be re-watched under the video title “Government House Investiture Ceremony – 14 September 2020, Session 2”, at the 11:25 mark.

Official Secretary to the Governor-General Paul Singer opened the ceremony on Monday morning with an Acknowledgement of Country before saying these words.

“Today is a special day for recipient’s friends, families and community members,” he said.

“It’s a day we celebrate impressive achievements and service, of ordinary Australians doing extraordinary things.”

And that was exactly what encompasses the very humble, faithful and generous Rose Adler.

Before His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC pinned the insignia Medal of the General Division on Rose for her service to the community of Harden-Murrumburrah, these words were said of her.

“Mrs Adler has volunteered in many community groups in Harden-Murrumburrah and surrounds, over the past several decades. She’s a highly valued member of the Country Women’s Association NSW and served in organisations in a range of roles. She’s also been a very active member of the St Paul’s Anglican church for many years and her involvement on the Parish Council, Church’s Women’s Union and at the Opportunity Shop, has been outstanding.”

“Additionally, she is a long-standing member of the Harden Evening View Club and held a vital position of Treasurer on the Committee for many years.”

“It’s people like Mrs Adler who is a backbone in our community. She is most deserving of our recognition.”

“Mrs Rose Adler, awarded the medal of the order.”

On Facebook, the community were nothing short of admiration and appreciation of Mrs Rose’s achievements and contributions to Harden-Murrumburrah.

Comments were as follow, “congratulations Rose, truly deserved the award and it could not have gone to a nicer lady”, another reads, “Rose, you are our national treasure”.

The Order of Australia recognises Australians who have demonstrated outstanding service or exceptional achievements.

Anyone is able to nominate a member of the community for this honourable recognition.
Rose was one of these nominated members and to qualify, an individual must have demonstrated hard work, service and dedication, to improve the nation for what it is today.

After a nomination is received, the nominator is acknowledged and research is begun on the nominee’s profile, as well as referees are contacted.
If Council believes there is good reasons for a nominee to be recognised for their efforts, they will put forward their name for consideration from the Governor-General.

And when that passes through as well, a congratulatory letter is sent out, which Rose found out at the beginning of June.
