Mr Boom Booms fireworks display on Saturday night.

On Saturday, the Hilltops Diesel Murrumburrah Harden show celebrated the end of a successful exhibition with Mr Boom Boom’s 30-minute fireworks display, which was enjoyed by many locals.

A total of $2,000 was the revenue from total donations and gate entries.

Despite doing things differently this year with Facebook exhibitions and major online donation pools, Murrumburrah-Harden Show Secretary Sarah Jones said things went really well with more entries that anticipated and all sections having entries.

“We got lots of out-of-town support especially with the virtual cattle section, this was great to see,” she said.

“Overall, there was great feedback with the entries, people said they enjoyed having something to look forward to again.

“The fireworks were unreal. Mr Boom Boom was organised for a 10 minutes display, but instead put on a close to 30 minutes display at no extra cost, giving everyone something extra to smile about.”

Although the show was successfully executed under the circumstances it faced, Sarah said the profit this year was only an eighth of what it normally would be.

She added that a virtual show has reduced opportunities for patrons to come through the gates and entry fees for the firework display had been lowered this year too.

Sarah is hoping to organise a few more fundraisers at the start of next year, with the night show next year in high uncertainty due to finances.

“Every dollar makes a difference and we appreciate everyone for making donations, whether it’d be online or through donation tins around town,” Sarah said.

“Every little bit helps our 2021 shows get off the ground and to allow us to give the community something to look forward to.”

Last weekend, Bendigo Bank contributed by waiving all entry fees for any section of the show and even provided prize money.

Bendigo Bank will be on board again next year, as well as major sponsors Hilltops Diesel.

A massive thank you to Mr Boom Boom, Hiltops Diesel, Bendigo Bank, the exhibiters, the stewards, and volunteers for their contribution to this year’s show.

A special note to Jenny Loader for running our show office, volunteering her time for the entire show each and every year, she plays a massive part to the operation.
