Safer journeys at Harden and Murrumburrah

The Burley Griffin Way speed limit will be lowered through Harden and Murrumburrah from later this month.

A speed zone review on Albury Street (Burley Griffin Way) was recently caries out on the road at the request of Hilltops Council, to address safety concerns about the speed of vehicles travelling through Harden and Murrumburrah.

“The review assessed a number of factors including crash history, road use, nearby development, traffic volumes, and pedestrian activity,” Mr Tanner said.

“The review recommended lowering the 60 km/h speed zone on the Burley Griffin Way through Harden and Murrumburrah to 50 km/h, for the entire length of the residential and commercial area, a distance of about 3.6 kilometres.

“This new speed zone will provide a safer road environment for all road users with minimal increase to travel times.”

The new speed limit will be installed from Monday 31 August 2020.

Signs will be in place to advise motorists of the changed traffic conditions. Road users are asked to keep an eye out for the changes and follow the directions of signs.
