Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke with Cowra Mayor Bill West.
Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke may be looking for another seat or another job at the next election with the Daily Telegraph reporting that the seat of Cootamundra will be under attack from the Liberal Party when they lodge their redistribution submission.
It may mean that parts of the seat will be divided up and shared amongst parts of other seats. Orange is to the North, Murray to the west, Wagga to the south and Goulburn to the east.
It is understood one option being eyed by Liberals in their electoral redistribution submission is proposing the abolition of a safe Nationals seat – Cootamundra.
The Daily Telegraph reported, “One source said this could protect the Liberals from losing an inner-city seat, but would spark an all out Coalition war.”
Coalition MP Don Harwin will work on the electoral redistribution for the Liberal party, he will interview MPs asking them about their views on electoral boundaries.
A Liberal party spokesman said “In recognition of his psephological expertise, Don Harwin was asked to represent the Parliamentary Party view for the Liberal Party submission to the NSW Electoral Commission.”
