Alan Tobin played his pan flute on Anzac Day, as residents of the Twin Towns were out in good numbers to remember those who served.

Residents may remember that Alan was a bugler at school and that he went on to play in the town band when he was 12 years old until he was in his early twenties.

Alan said he and Margaret gathered with Brian Wales and with the Fishers and Douglass families in hearing distance to hold a small service of remembrance. He said he has been known to play the cornet at the cemetery when an old digger has passed away.

He said that you could hear the dawn service all over the town and was amazed at how many residents embraced this alternative way of celebrating this special day, the many marks of respect that had been made and displayed being very moving.
