Hornets player Kai Steele hit 74 for Harden on Saturday at Boorowa.
The much anticipated cricket match between the Twin Town’s two C Grade sides will take place at Tim Doolan oval on Saturday at 12:30pm.
The Harden Hornets defeated the Boorowa Gators in convincing fashion on Saturday and will be looking to take that form into the match against the Mudcrabs.
The newly formed Mudcarbs played a game of attrition with the Yass Clubhouse Horns on Saturday at O’Connor Park and are also coming off a win. The Mudcrabs scored a handy total of 223 which saw the Yass side bat the full 40 overs, just falling short after some free flowing shots early in their innings.
The Binalong Bushrangers sit atop the ladder on 64 points with daylight to the second placed Bookham Bulls on 41. The Hornets are just behind the Bulls on 38 and share a similar for and against to the Bowling club side. The Hornets have scored 695 runs for, to the Bowlo’s 636 and 714 runs against to the Bolwo’s 622. The Yass Taipans sit in 4th place on 35 points just 3 points shy of the Hornets and after the weekend’s matches have nudged the Bowlo in to 5th place on 30 points.
Tim Doolan Oval’s outfield is very dry and this will likely result in plenty of fours hit by both sides. The square is the only part of the ground receiving any meaningful water.
2019 has witnessed a resurgence in cricket in the Twin Towns with Harden formerly filling two sides in the Cootamundra competition for a number of decades and a spike in interest this season from a number of locals and district players.
