Students from the Trinity Catholic School Choir visited the Nursing home on October 31 and performed a number of their songs and hymns for the residents. George and Trish Fitzgerald.
Trinity Choir Sings For Nursing Home Donna Wade has been coordinating the choir, she said, “They were so excited to have us up there. They loved it.” Trinity recently won the Western region Schools Choir competition and on the back of that success decided to branch out locally and show the town what they can do. The students range from year 2 to year 6.
They sang 2 of the winning songs, plus another repertoire of 10 songs ranging from hymns to contemporary. Julie Doolan said, “They gathered them all in the lounge room and they entertained them with 12 different songs before morning tea.”
The students then spoke with the residents and sat and had conversations with locals on the other end of the age spectrum. Julie said, “We are booked in for late November and we will do Christmas Carols. We will try and make it a regular thing.”
Donna said, “It was nice the interaction between the residents and the kids.” The students practised 3 times a week leading in to the competition and have continued to practice, giving up their lunchtimes to make sure they have their songs down pat.
