The Murrumburrah Showground amenities block was officially unveiled on Monday last week, with a large crowd of community group representatives in attendance.

Show President Andrew Jones said, “They received a grant from the stronger communities fund which also provided for the power upgrade. The old toilets were getting past their used by date and the new facilities allow for a lot more people on show day, but also for other days. It will be available for year round use with showers, washing facilities and toilets. It’s made the showground a multi purpose facility.”

As one of the main driving forces behind the local show Andrew is hoping to expand in 2020. He said, “We are looking at getting some more entertainment for the period between 4pm and leading up to the fireworks. A couple of local bands will perform and some of the popular attractions will be back like the snake man.” The Showman’s guild have promised to bring a new show ride worth $500,000 to the 2020 show. Andrew said, “The upgrades will mean there will be more sideshow attractions and there is less risk with overhead powerlines gone.”

A Christmas get together will be held on December 14 for anyone involved with the showground or the show to discuss ideas and thank everyone for
