Nathan Schofield after hitting 130 Not Out for the Harden Bowlo Mudcrabs.

The Harden Bowlo Mudcrabs travelled to Boorowa on Saturday and went in to the field for the first half of the match. Boorowa opened their innings with Aiden Stannard and Ben Klose at the crease.

Dave Bolger combined with Nathan Schofield for the first 2

wickets with Schofield diving for a spectacular catch in the covers and another beauty, to see both Klose and James Farrell head back to the hill with 1 and 7 respectively.

Archie Gay joined Stannard who was compiling a patient and well timed innings. Archie made it to 7 before he was bowled by Paddy Smith.

In came his father Stuart Gay, who scored a half century of 51 runs, before he was caught in the deep by Jake Hogan off the bowling of Schofield.

    V. Ryan came out and with the overs running out, he and Stannard took to the Harden Bowling attack in a bid to boost the score in the final few overs.

Stannard was out on 72, while Ryan finished with 31.

The windy conditions provided Boorowa with 30 extras on top of their 169 runs, to leave them with a large total of 199 and 200 for the Harden Bowlo to win.

Oscar Smith was good in the field in his first match and youngster Ryan Weston was unlucky not to get a run out when he hit the stumps with a great throw.

Harden set about their innings with Schofield and Paddy Smith at the crease. It wasn’t long before Paddy mistimed one and heard the death rattle. This brought Andrew Jones to the centre and he and Scofield put on an 84 run partnership before Jones went due to a runout on 34.

Harden were 2 for 115 at drinks.

Jayke Hogan joined Scofield and added 23 runs and finished not out. The partnership was hitting plenty of free flowing shots. Schofield hit two big sixes to finish on 130 not out with Harden reaching the target with the loss of two wickets in the 32nd over.

Schofield said, “We got off to a good start, put the bad balls away and got in to a groove.”

The Bowlo will have next week off with a bye before they head to Yass on November 23 to take on the Golf Club Taipans. It is expected a few players who were previously unavailable will be ready for selection against Yass. The Mudcrabs are 2 from 3 in their inaugural season so far.
