Some of the animal’s fur. The Times has decided not to publish the photograph which shows the deceased animal.
Council staff were confronted by a gruesome discovery on Friday morning when they found what appeared to be a mutilated possum near the Coddington Park toilets in Murrumburrah.
The dead animal was scattered into 3 parts near the Robert’s Park toilets and the incident had to have happened after Thursday night, as it was found between 7 and 8am Friday morning.
Its tail was cut off and its head was cut off in a disgraceful act. The possum’s entrails were also cut from the animal’s torso. It had no bite marks on it and a sharp object looks to have been used to dismember the animal.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the local police on 63 862 644.
