Population increase forecasts made by the Canberra Region Joint Organisation show a small level of growth for the Hilltops area between 2019 to 2036. Placing it at number 7 of 8 Councils. Hilltops is expected to grow from 18,895 to 19,922. 1027 people or 5.44% across the 17 year period but only .28% per annum.
Upper Lachlan is the only area where it is forecast that their will be a decrease in population with the 2016 figure set at 7,837 in 2016 to 7,760 in 2036. A reduction of -0.05 per annum.
Yass Valley may see the highest growth with an increase predicted from 16,628 to 27,315. Average annual change of 2.51%
Queanbeyan Palerang is predicted to grow from 58,119 to 78,756. Average annual change of 1.53%
Goulburn Mulwaree Council area is predicted to grow from 30,158 to 37,202. Average annual change of 1.05%
Eurobodalla Shire is predicted to grow from 37,944 to 45,515. Average annual change of .91%
Bega Valley is predicted to grow from 33,944 to 38,138. Average annual change of .58%
Snowy Monaro Regional Council is predicted to grow from 20,617 to 21,885. Average annual change of .30%
Hilltops Council will also see a spike in older residents over the next 20 years. Those over 60 will jump from 5,355 residents to 6667 or an increase of 1312.
