Bunyip Preschool has completed renovations in their playground area. ‘The Playground People’ from Queanbeyan transformed the Joey’s outdoor area by laying a large area of astro turf and by concreting smooth rocks into the creek bed which has allowed the children to have a fun water area to play in.
Bunyip preschool Director Heather Gammon said, “We tried to keep the yard as natural as possible. We grew natural grass down the bottom but decided it wasn’t working. We have compromised with the astro turf, which does have thick soft fall matting underneath, for the safety of the children.” The top playground area also saw the smooth rocks cemented in place in the creek bed, with the hope to install a water pump in the near future to bring it to life.
Some of the old bamboo fencing has been replaced as it had weathered over time. A large gum tree at the back of the yard was repurposed as it had reached end of life. The tree has been repurposed into seating around the children’s sandpit.
