Andrew Jones puts one away on his way to 61 not out for the Harden Bowlo.

The Harden Bowlo side took on the Binalong Bushrangers at Robert’s Park on Saturday and blooded 2 new opening batsmen in Brody Schofield and Will Glover. The diminutive pair took on the opening bowlers of Knight and Paterson who managed their attack to both welcome the two young men to C Grade and keep them honest. The lads lasted 3 solid overs before Glover was dismissed by a nice one handed catch from Mick Patto.

Drew Arabin with a smile on his face, bowling for Binalong.

Brody was joined by his father Nathan before he departed the crease for 2. “Old man Schofield’ welcomed MudCrab Andrew Jones and the pair scored freely before Schofield went 4 runs shy of another half century. Jones was in good form with pincer movements and slashing strokes. He watched as Paddy Smith, Harry Henman  and Johno Davis all fell cheaply around him.

Matt Stadtmiller joined Jones and the pair did their best to make the score respectable. Jones finished on 61 not out which included 2 6s and 4 4s, while Stadtmiller chipped in with 19 not out. The Bushrangers had to chase 142 for victory and the wind was blowing.

Binalong looked very nice in their blue white and yellow uniforms and the professional clothing also brought with it a very good batting line up.

Knight and Arabin came to the crease and started well, before knight went for 4 caught by Johno Davis. Nick Arokiaswamy  joined Arabin as the pair both put on a show of fine batting in the windy conditions.

Arabin hit 4 4s and a 6 for 58 not out, while Nick hit 8 4s during his innings of 64 not out, many off well timed cover drives.

The Binlaong batsmen had the total at 1-119 at drinks and only needed a further 23 to reach the Bowlo’s score after they had replenished their fluids.

The Bowlo will head to Boorowa on Saturday November 9 to take on the Gators while the Hornets head to Bookham to take on the Bulls.
