On Thursday 26th September, students, staff, family and friends celebrated at the Year 12 Graduation Formal Dinner, which was held at the Harden Bowling Club. The students all looked very glamorous in their gorgeous dresses and smart suits. Students had a very busy day, starting the day with a BBQ breakfast at school with staff and family, then their formal graduation assembly with everyone at MHS, then onto getting ready for their formal dinner that evening. Photographer (Holly Bradford) captured all the special moments.
Students had photos taken in Sue and Heinz Leitner’s garden before arriving at the club. The club auditorium was beautifully decorated by the students and Ms Mason. The Staff at the Bowling Club assisted greatly with the success of the night. Anna and team at the Jack-Hi Chinese Restaurant provided the catering for the evening.
Student, Tara McGrath-West said “The evening was smooth and it went very well, the food was really good too.” When asked how she was feeling about her upcoming exams Tara said, “Looking forward to them, but I’m just a bit nervous.” Tara is hoping to move to Canberra next year and attend University, possibly studying Exercise Physiology and Rehabilitation.
Student Hannah Phillis said, “It was a pretty good send off for us.” Hannah is looking forward to her exams but isn’t to stressed as she has secured herself a Chefs Apprenticeship at the Sir George. Hannah studied Hospitality at MHS and is looking forward to continuing in hospitality through an apprenticeship in the industry. Tara and Hannah both said that they and their fellow students would like to thank Ms Mason for all the organising she had done and Ali Spencer for all her help and guidance throughout the year as their Yr 12 coordinator before going on maternity leave, also thanking Jan Young for her contributions. Last week marked the end of formal lessons for Yr 12, they will complete their formal examinations next term and then they will have a long wait for results, which will be released in the last week of the school year.
Students will also receive their ATAR ranks the same day after lunch, this is a first as they usually have to wait until the new year.
