Trinity Choir travelled to Tumut last week to compete in the annual Mary Quinane Western Region Catholic Primary School Choir Festival.
They were accompanied by Miss Wade, Mrs Burns and Mrs Davis. Seven schools participated in the festival this year including: McAuley, Tumut, St Joseph’s Adelong, St Mary’s Batlow, Trinity Murrumburrah, St Mary’s Young, St Joseph’s Boorowa and St Mary’s West Wyalong. Guest judges who marked each choir out of 10 in each of the following categories; Etiquette, Entrance and exit, Enthusiasm, Musical ability and General performance.
Trinity choir sang ‘Hail Mary, Gentle Woman’ and ‘Everyone Belongs’. All of the performances were fabulous. It must have been very hard for the judges to adjudicate such competition. However, Trinity Choir ticked all the above boxes.
They were awarded First Place for their performance, receiving a Perpetual Trophy and Personalised Trophy to keep at school. Miss Wade and all the choir were super excited of the result, as were Mrs Burns and Mrs Davis. Miss Wade is particularly thankful to the choir for their commitment and dedication to choir practices and for their fabulous performance on the day, especially their impeccable behaviour throughout the competition.
This in itself is to be highly commended. The Judges made particular comment on Trinity’s selection of songs being suited to their purpose. They were complimentary of Trinity’s enthusiasm in their presentation and the fact that they ‘felt the lyrics and music’ in the way they performed.
