There aren’t many young men who are doing what Jesse Manwaring is doing. Some may be wary of flying and some may not possess the calm nerves and the level of knowledge one needs to take to the skies and pilot a plane. Last weekend Jesse Manwaring undertook his first solo navigation flight where he flew to a number of towns including Young to Cowra to Forbes and back.
In each of those towns he performed a ‘touch and go’ before stopping in Forbes where he had some lunch. Jesse flew and navigated the plane on his own for the first time ever. At 18 Jesse has just completed Year 12 at Hennessy Catholic College. When we spoke to Jesse he was preparing to fly from Temora to Forbes across to Cowra and back to Cootamundra before finishing in Temora.
Jesse will soon be able to fly wherever he wants, all over Australia, when he receives his Recreational Pilot Certificate with a Cross Country Navigational Endorsement Certificate. All of Jesse’s hard work will hopefully pay off with a career path into the aviation industry. In the coming months he hopes to gain entry in to the Sydney Flight College where he can commence training to become a Commercial Pilot.
Jesse said, “I hope to enrol with Qantas and would like to work with them in the future.” “This has always been a pretty big passion of mine and is all I love doing really, it is all I want to do with my career. Mum and Dad are pretty proud every time I get home after a big flight.” Jesse recently did work experience with Qantas and spent time in the simulator where he landed a 737 which was operating with just one engine.
