Emma Collins with Violet Hill Phoebe who she won State Qualifying Paraders with. Sara Collins talking to Geoff Bush after winning her non-qualifying heat.

Emma and Sara Collins took part in cattle showing at the Cootamundra Show over the weekend with both local girls performing exceptionally well. Emma has qualified for next year’s State Paraders at the Royal Easter Show. Sara won her heat and the heifer she was leading took out the carcass class. Marg Campbell supplied both heifers for Emma and Sara who showed them under the canopy of Murrumburrah High School.

She said, “ Jan is always encompassing of all kids who want to participate. I take them and provide the animals but we are part of the highschool team. It’s interesting for Scott, because he is a sheep farmer and he has both girls parading cattle at the moment.” Marg was very impressed with both Sara and Emma.

She said, “One of the heifers we took won Champion led Heifer. We felt we had a pretty good day and overall Murrumburrah High School took out the point score for participating schools. We had schools from Yanco, Wagga, Coota Yass and Young. 106 kids turned up. The Coota Show Society do a fantastic job of looking after the kids who camped overnight.”

Scott Collins said, “They are judged on their presentation and how they control the animal with certain guidelines they follow. Emma was Reserve Champion which qualified her to go to Sydney.” Emma has been showing cattle for 3 years and Sara looks to be very interested in the past time. The girls would like to thanks Holman and Tolmie of Cootamundra for their assistance.
