Matt Stadtmiller, Dave Bolger, Paddy Smith, Brody Schofield, Nathan Schofield (C) and Harry Henman at the Harden District Bowling Club after the new side’s first win in their first match in the YDCA C Grade competition.
The twin towns has entered a second side in the Yass District Cricket Association C Grade competition for the 2019/2020 season. The Harden Bowlo side as they are now known got off to a nice start by defeating the Clubhouse Horns at Robert’s Park on Saturday afternoon. Yass won the toss and elected to bat first. They piled the runs on and were 0 for 26 after 3 overs before Schofield combined with Stadtmiller to take the newly formed side’s first wicket.
Yass scored solidly in the first 20 overs and were 5 for 118 at drinks after hitting 4s and 6s to the western side of the ground. The ball went in the drink and looked to be lost to a mud crab at one stage, before Max Spackman fetched it. The second stanza saw the tail fall away for Yass after some determined batting. The Horns ended up all out for 136 in the 33rd over.
Johno Davis took 3 for 22, while Harry Henman and Nathan Schofield both bagged doubles. Max and Todd Spackman both claimed a scalp while Dave Bolger and Brody Schofield bowled solidly. Andrew Jones was good at wicket keeper and the side looks forward to seeing some diving catches in the ensuing games.
Both sides came with 10 players and Harden can expect a tough assignment next time they face the Horns.
Harden chased down the 136 runs in 25 overs, mostly thanks to Nathan Schofield, Harry Henman and Andrew Jones who scored 56, 17 and 30 respectively.
Paddy Smith Chimed in with 5 while Todd Spackman and Matt Stadtmiller saw the Bowlo reach their target with 11 and 9 not out each.
Both the Hornets and the Bowlo have this Saturday off due to the Harden Picnic Races, before they play their next matches on November 2.
