Craig Filmer was one part of the dynamic duo which also included Tam Kennedy. The pair took out the prestigious Annual Poole & Jones Memorial Day.

Not happy with cleaning up the NSW Keno 2 Man Ambrose qualifier 6 weeks ago, Tam Kennedy has again carried Craig Filmer to a win in the prestigious Annual Poole & Jones Memorial Day. Tam has now taken this event in both Stableford and now in the new Ambrose format. Hosts Tom Poole & Andrew Jones are known for being weapons on, and off the course and their sponsorship proved to be worth every cent of the admission fee to compete. Thanks Tom & Andrew.

So on the day, Tam and Craig have recorded 4 under off the stick (3 birdies and a bogey on each 9) for a 60.25 nett. They got their name engraved in the most valuable silverware, a Glass mug inscribed with “I won this trophy for hitting my balls” full of amber lemonade and a take-away bottle of goodies. As well both boys got to wear the perpetual blazer during their celebratory drink.

Balls on the day went to the eternal bridesmaids Craig Henman and Ashley Hall who had a nice 61.75 nett, Ben Glover & Graham Williams on 63.25 nett and Kevin Hoppe who carried the winged wonder Ron Page around for the day, with 63.75 nett. Craig Filmer picked up nearest the pin on the Bendigo Bank Hole in One hole, at 43 cm.

Jacqui Solah Claims Her First Singles Title

Our Service Attendant behind the bar and rusted on new golfer Jacqui Solah has come out and claimed her first title in the Midweek Comp last week. Jacqui has knocked out a rock solid 28 stableford points around the 12 hole par 24 point layout. This is a great reward for Jacqui whom since finding golf, has applied herself whole heartedly to the task.

Recording a round 4 shots better than her assigned handicap means that our jubilant lady behind the bar will turn the smile to a frown this week when she suffers her first handicap reduction. Jacqui loses the 4 shots and will now resume on 26.

Jacqui has edged out David James by finishing slightly stronger so David claims second and escaped any reduction …………. this week. Tied for third were Herb Manwaring and again with David James with 26 points, only 2 shots back from our leaders. Sounds like someone is getting ready to pounce into the winners circle.

The magical mystery ball winner this week was Jim Wright.

Cathie Sanderson Hits Out at Ladies Starters Golf

The scribe misplaced his notes from Mrs Manwaring last week so a catch up on our Starters Group of keen Tuesday Ladies.

Our notable round for the previous week was brought in by Cathie Sanderson who has returned to the scorers hut with a fantastic 37 nett or 1 under her handicap for the front 9. Cathie was closely followed by Suzie Stevens who was from all accounts breathing right down Cathhie’s neck with the scoring.

Last week, and maybe a sign of what was to come with Midweek Comp, Jacqui Solah brought the round of the week in with a 35 nett or 3 below her handicap.

Marjie has beamed out words of encouragement for you all and hopes you are looking forward to the warmer days ahead.

This Week

Saturday Men’s Golf will see the Brian Wales September Monthly Medal & Guzzlers Mug. Remember boys that the Eclectic is still running and Medals still count toward the year long Kruger Perpetual Trophies.

Ladies Saturday Golf will comprise a Stableford day out for a Club Trophy. A reminder also that Binalong Tournament is also listed for Saturday.

Starter Group Ladies is on Tuesday and those keen should get in touch with Marj Manwaring.

Midweek Golf for all keen hits off around lunch times on Wednesday and Friday, or grab a card at the bar during the week and form your own group.

Have fun golfers.
