Scott Spackman welcomes back Gotta Want It after the win at Gundagai.

Scott Spackman and his stable have enjoyed a busy 2 weeks with a number of good wins for the Wagga trainer and his team. Spackman’s stable has 16 horses, however, that doesn’t prevent him from securing a large number of wins around the Southern District Racing area and further afield.

Spackman commenced proceedings in the second half of this year with Tocatchacod first home at Gundagai on August 4. Since then he has won 3 races in the last 2 weeks with 3 different horses.

Cryfowl backed up his solid win at Boorowa on May 4 with a win at Wagga on September 7 before lining up on Sunday in the Picnic Championship where the 6 year old gelding by Street Cry, finished in 8th place in a strong field where Gadfly managed to hold them off.

Gotta Want It, won by a length and a half at Gundagai on September 8 before Blazen Diamond took out the fillies and Mares Benchmark 58 at Corowa on Monday.

Fellow Wagga Trainer Chris Heywood scored a win with Blitzar, at Dubbo on Sunday in the Country Maiden picking up over $25,000 for the win. The promising 3 year old gelding by Deep Field won his trial, placed second in his first start and 1st in his second start and is showing plenty of promise.

The Harden Picnic Races are closer than many think with the famous race day set down for October 26. The 6 race card is a feature of the local race scene with the 1400 metre Harden Picnic Cup the highlight of the day. 2018 saw Spackman claim the Cup with Cryfowl.
