Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council (CGRC) wishes to advise the historic Dog on the Tuckerbox Site will be closed for major works. The site will reopen on 10th August 2019. The site will see refurbishment of the public toilet facilities, Souvenir Shop/Café, and a lolly shop will be created in the old service station site. Signage, Landscaping and improved lighting and security cameras installed are all part of the refurbishment.

The Wishing Well, where the much loved Dog on the Tuckerbox was situated is also undergoing an upgrade. The Dog is currently being repaired after being vandalised recently. The damaged ear has been reinstated and the statue will also undergo some maintenance to improve the outer surface. CGRC mayor Cr Abb McAlister said he was pleased that the site is undergoing this refurbishment.

“The plans have been in place to undertake these works. Whilst the vandalism of our little mate, The Dog, has put the spotlight on the site recently, the area will be transformed,” Cr McAlister said. Council apologises for any inconvenience. The site will reopen on 10th August 2019.
