Many of us have a caring role in life. This is one of the reasons that the Anglican Parish is designing its 17th Annual Community Pastoral Care seminar around the idea of caring for and supporting carers and their well-being. The Seminar will be held at the Parish Hall in Albury Street on Thursday, 22 August starting at 9.30am with a cuppa. The seminar is open to anyone who has an interest in caring or carers.
There will be two keynote speakers on the day. Faith Rogers from Murrumbidgee Local Health services will speak on Well-being and You in the first session. Then Libby Smith from Dementia Australia will talk about carers of people living with Dementia. As well Libby will interview a carer to help emphasise the support needed for someone in that role.
After lunch there will be two short sessions. The first of these will be about becoming a Dementia friend and then their will be a session about what it is like to be a Dementia Friendly Community. The day will finish with a question session and a summary of the day.
Spokesperson for the seminar, Don Jamieson, said that with so many people having caring roles it was vital that carers know how to look after themselves and how to seek support in their community. When you look after yourself as well as the one you care for then the level of care you are able to give is so much better.
Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea are all included in the $25 cost of the day.
To book in for the day simply ring Don Jamieson on 63863458. Please do so by Monday, 19th August.
