Binalong is delighted to host stunt poet Jacqui Malins at A Brush with Poetry on Sunday July 28. Since discovering poetry in 2013, Canberra-based Malins hasn’t stopped writing and creating performances. Her works include ‘Words in Flight’ (2018), which she will perform in Binalong. Her collaboration with cellist Julia Horvath resulted in ‘Cavorting with Time’(2017), with the related book published by Recent Work Press in 2018. Words in Flight takes you up, up, up. Soar with sea eagles and aeroplanes, float in balloons and parachutes, ride with witches and play with gravity.
Themes include courage, freedom, growth, resilience and the big forces that surround us. Close and secure for take-off and landing! Malins has featured at the National Folk Festival, Unspoken Words, the Woodford Festival and more, and was a finalist at the Australian Poetry Slam 2015 and Nimbin Performance Poetry World Cup 2017. She also organises poetry events, including Mother Tongue Multilingual Poetry which she co-founded in 2015 to showcase poetry in diverse languages.
See Jacqui Malins at A Brush with Poetry on Sunday July 28, 1.30 for 2pm at Cafe on Queen, 15 Queen St Binalong. A Brush with Poetry is a Binalong Arts Group Inc event.
