Craig Filmer has secured a hole in one at Cootamundra whilst playing pennants for Harden. He is pictured working away in his new business DA Busters.

He was playing with a partner and was on the 5th hole which is called stairway to heaven.

His shot took to the sky like a zeppelin with the ball landing to the left of the green.

Craig said, “I hit a shot which I though missed the left hand side of the green and went down looking for it.”

His opposition player from Gundagai had hit the green and marked his ball. “I joked, check the hole on the way past him. It appears to have come down off the slope through the bunker and into the hole. When we couldn’t find it we went over to the whole and from 3 foot away, I leant over and looked in and there it was. I told him and it broke his heart because I was 4 holes up and that was the 5th hole. He finally hit a shot that he was happy with. I was 7 up through 7 and I went on to beat him.”

The hole in one is Craig’s second, after he completed the feat about 12 years ago at Harden on the 16th hole.

He didn’t see either of them go in. 12 years ago he hit the green and after looking for the ball, Dougy Baker and Ron Page said it was in the whole. It had hit left of the flag and it had spun in.

Craig had used an older ball for the first 4 holes for his most recent success, before switching to a new ball which is now mounted in a cabinet at his house and titled ‘only one hit’.

Craig has been playing golf seriously for 22 years since he moved to Harden.

Congratulations Craig.
