Scott Spackman will be celebrating a training win to remember tonight after Cryfowl took out the Nathan Schofield Carpentry and Sibelco Harden Picnic Cup over 1400 metres today.
Spackman rode Money Road as a jockey at just 58 kilograms to win the cup in 1993 and It has long been a dream of Spackman’s to win the cup as a trainer.
After placing 2nd at Wagga with Cryfowl on October 18, the 5 year old gelding looked to have great form going into the race and showed that form to keep the Trevor Sutherland trained Tearful Kitty at bay by 0.83 lengths.
Cryfowl collected $5,440 for the win with connections and family members preparing to celebrate into the night.
