Harden Open tournament Geoff Walker defeated Joel Shields on the 2nd play off hole with a birdie.
Long time stalwart and multiple Champion of the Harden Open Golf Tournament, Geoff Walker from Young has again prevailed in this year’s edition, proudly brought to us by the GO Kruger Trust.
This year Geoff had to work a bit harder for his crown with young gun Joel Shields from Young, and Cootamundra regular John Blackman each shooting 71 (par) off the stick on the day.  Geoff triumphed with a 15 foot birdie on the second sudden death play off hole to claim the title.
In claiming his trophy, Geoff was most complimentary on the hard work of the volunteers, the organisers and helpers, as well as the welcoming Club spirit when he plays at Harden.
In B Grade the title was claimed by Ben McAlister of Belconnen who shot a very tidy 81 to be 3 shots clear of local Peter Steinke who as you will see below is playing his way back in to form after a needling last week in the paper.

Steinke Returns Midweek Serve
Only last week this scribe poked some light hearted fun and shone some shade on Mr Steinke’s midweek win from a couple of weeks ago as being just enough to get the job done.  This week he has returned serve and then some.  Peter has held a 12 hole master class and returned a score 8 shots better than his handicap of 11 with 32
stableford points on the par 24 point layout.
Peter has been savaged by the handicapper and now will resume on a new deductor of only 3.  Knowing Peter, he will take this as a challenge to make it back into the headlines shortly, but statistics would indicate it may be a while.  Great round and well done!
Not happy with the win, Peter shot another round on Day 2 that earnt him second place as well.  His 2nd place round was 4 better than his handicap for 28 points.  3rd place honours were shared by June Spencer and Ron Kerr with par rounds to their handicaps (24 points), whilst Alan Hill claimed the ball draw.
Special mention also to Daryl Poulter from Albany WA.  Daryl heard we have a good track and an exciting
midweek comp so he thought he would drop in and have a dig.  Well done mate and I trust your week of golf at Harden was everything you hoped it would be.
 Pennants Round 4
This Sunday sees our defending Champions take on Young at Harden, with tee time for our match at 10am.  The team selected is Tam Kennedy, Rick Preston, Craig Filmer, Chris Hocking and Tim Beveridge.  First reserve is Jamie Cantrill if something comes up.
The team is in 2nd place where only the top 2 go through to the final in the current format.  The wash-out will be played on the 8th July at Coota versus Coota and that team will be in next weeks paper as regional finals of the 4BBB will clash.
   This Week
Our program is quiet on events for this week so a Mixed Medley 2 person Ambrose is planned for a Club Trophy.  Grab your partner and come and have some free
whacking fun after all of the serious events of the last few weeks.
The Bendigo Bank Hole in One Trophy will also be up for grabs.
See you there
