The Harden Hawks will take on the the Boorowa Rovers this Saturday at 2:30pm at Boorowa. The Hawks played out a 14 all draw with the Canberra Bears at Harden on July 7, where they led the match in the final stages only to allow the Bears back in the game with a couple of minutes to go. Harden now sits in third place with 2 losses and a draw from their 12 matches. They have claimed 9 wins. The maroon and whites headed up the hill to Crookwell on Sunday, missing a few troops and with a side carrying some injuries. Luke Brown and Patrick Smith scored two tries each while Nathan Schofield kicked two conversions. Schofield’s season may be over after a nasty ankle injury.
Harden fought hard but went down 34-20. Captain Luke Brown said, “They had a full bench and we had 14 or 15 players. Tyson Ings stepped up for us, the referees gave us a bit of a hammering and we had one in the bin in the first half. Everyone who was there put in.” Crookwell shared their tries amongst 6 players.
The Harden Hawkettes held off the Crookwell She Devils 18-16 at Crookwell on Sunday. Emma James was perfect with the boot, slotting all 3 conversions whilst also scoring a try. Claire Smith touched down for a double. The Hawkettes take on the Boorowa Roverettes at Boorowa this Saturday at 1:20pm The Hawkettes sit in first place on the ladder with 12 wins and points scored for, of 496, and against, of 48.
They continue to be the benchmark even though they had a close call on the weekend. The Youth League side had the bye on Saturday. They will be heading off to Greenway in the south Of Canberra to take on the Tuggeranong Bushrangers at 10:05am this Saturday. The lads sit in second place on the ladder, on 7 wins from 11 matches- just below Yass who have lost only one match this season.
