The conclusion of round 12 of the George Tooke Shield sees the Harden Hawks sit in 3rd place on the ladder, after downing the Bungendore Tigers 28-20. The Tigers are renowned for ensuring that key signings made before the June 30 cut off. Captain Luke Brown scored 3 tries and was ably assisted by Carl Johnson, who would cross the line for a try of his own. Pat Smith and Junior Lafaele also bagged meat pies whilst Nathan Schofield had an off day, kicking 2 from 6, below his usually high standard. The Hawkettes got off to a difficult start against the Bungendore Tigerettes, with the opposition quickly opening up a 12-nil lead. The Hawkettes fired back, bringing the score to 12-6, by half-time. Harden took advantage of the second half, scoring two more tries, to finish the game on 18 to Bungendore’s 12. Katie Butt, Shannon Hurley and Liana Vizl all successfully crossed the line for the Hawkettes, with Emma James converting each of them successfully. The Youth League had the bye for round 12. The Binalong Brahmans, who also had the bye for round 12, will this week take on the Crookwell Green Devils, at the Binalong Recreation Ground.
