When Carmel Brown first joined the Murrumburrah-Harden District Hospital Ladies Auxiliary in 1978, a then current member said, “ We won’t get much work out of this one”. Well, weren’t they proved wrong because last Friday Carmel celebrated 40 years with the Auxiliary and was honoured at the recent AGM with a special badge of service.

Carmel was the president of the Auxiliary for many of her years of service and has been quoted that the Auxiliary was her life and she didn’t have time for hobbies. The mother of 8 has been a member of many organisations in the twin town community and was the recipient of an OAM for her services to the district.

Linda Swales presented the badges. June Spencer received the 20 year badge whilst Terry Schofield, Elaine Heycox and Lyn Webb received the 10 year badges. Congratulations ladies for the wonderful work you do. Our district hospital is much the richer for your extremely generous donations.
