Sam Emms has excelled in the sport of soccer over the last couple of years. Next week we talk to her sister Jade Emms who has made the Riverina U12s side.

Harden Junior Soccer action moved to Temora on the weekend, with all teams having a solid hit out, and the results for the competitive age groups were positive, each coming away with wins. Just the one game for the

Harden Bearings U6’s on Saturday against Temora. Missing out on playing the first game due to one of the Temora U6 sides forfeiting at late notice the kids were very keen and made the most of the Second game. All the team is playing very well and enjoying their soccer. Once again Sammy Dunstan and Darby Abnett led the way scoring a couple of goals each. Indigo Douglas made an awesome play up the side line beating three defenders and was unlucky to not score herself. Chase Peterson made the most of his short time on the field scoring a goal and costing his Dad a lazy $10. Clair Corkhill and Toby Stevenson are finding their feet and really playing well. Keep it up kids.

Bendigo Bank U9’s are shaping up to be a great little soccer team. Playing two games against a good Temora outfit, Annie Coulton had probably her best game yet scoring a couple of goals and really looked like she was enjoying herself. Art Bussenschutt on debut looked like he has been playing for years showing great skill and teamwork. Shelby Abnett scored her first ever goal and not sure who was happier – her or her Dad?. All the kids are playing with a lot of confidence and great to see them passing the ball and playing as a team.

The Harden Country Club 10 /11 team had a good hit out against an enthusiastic Temora team. Jack Brooker, Chas Cooper, Blair Porter and Isaac Brown had great games for Harden, and their skills set this team up for a big win. Sybella Lenehan and Lucy Robb are also enjoying the freedom of the larger field, and contributed well to a great team effort.

The Coops Butchery 12/13 team notched up their first win for the season with a well earned 7 – 5 victory over the Redbacks. The Harden team suffered a couple of early setbacks to trail mid way through the first half, however they showed great tenacity to reel in Temora’s lead. Regan Manton, Jade Emms and Bella Paulissen kept Temora’s defence busy, and showed great skill and teamwork. In the second half, Brooke Emms and Isaac Brown took the game away from Temora, scoring 5 goals between them (Brooke 3 and Isaac 2). Mikelle Rowe and Jade Emms were Harden’s other goal scorers.

The Lubealloy 14 / 15 side were first to face up to Temora’s senior team. After a tight loss last week to Cootamundra, the Harden team looked to build on their previous effort, which they did with a big win. The speed of the Temora team didn’t seem to bother Hardens outstanding backline, the quality of their work showing on the scorecard with a 0 next to Temora at fulltime. Harden’s win came on the back of a big first half, scoring 5 of their 6 goals before the break.

The Temora team seemed to grow a leg before their second game against the SFM Spreading team. After conceding an early goal to Harden, Temora soon equalised, and their speed in attack looked threatening whenever their mid field controlled the ball, causing some anxious moments for the Harden defenders. A second goal to Harden allowed them to take a slender 2 – 1 lead into the break. Harden struggled to find the net in the second half, despite some excellent attacking work, resulting in a tense half, until Miguel Whittington scored to ease the pressure and get Harden home by 3 goals to 1.

The club is home at Roberts Park this Saturday when it takes on Cootamundra White.
