Reflections Holiday Parks who manage both Burrinjuck and Wyangala Dams are restricting fuel being brought in to the parks after a review was carried out into their fuel facilities which advised the bizarre restriction. A media release stated “To ensure visitor safety, it is not permitted to carry fuel into the parks for vehicles and/or boats which needs to be decanted. Guests are asked to fill their vehicles and boats at the nearest service stations. The closure and upgrade of fuel facilities is the next step in the group’s inland park revitalisation program which provides a 10-year roadmap for the redevelopment and structure of these precious community assets.

Priority projects for these parks have included bush fire management, park emergency management plans, installation of water treatment plants, as well as sewer and electrical upgrades. Providing memorable and safe guest experiences is a focus of Reflections Holiday Parks, and this important service for guests will be restored as soon as the new infrastructure has been put into place. Guests will be advised of alternative fuel suppliers and when new facilities are in place within the parks.” Jerry cans and barrels are currently not allowed in the park whilst “boat owners are allowed to bring in fuel that is within their boat tanks. Secondary supply tanks with fully enclosed decanting systems, where they can be connected from the tank directly to the outboard motor areallowed.”

The decision has brought on the ire of anglers and boaters who feel they can’t be trusted to put fuel from a jerry can in to a tank using a funnel. Burrinjuck is the go to destination for a large number of locals who frequent the park due to its close proximity to the twin towns. Having to drive out of the park to refuel is both time consuming and a heightened restriction.

Woolgarlo, however, does not suffer from the same conditions as Burrinjuck as it does not lie within the restricted area. Woolgarlo is situated approximately 15 kilometres north-east of Burrinjuck.
