Sunday’s Truck and Tractor day saw an influx of enthusiasts descend on the twin towns. Kevin Sharpe, spokesman for the organisation, was thrilled wth the turnout as it was larger than last year. He said, “People seem to just love the country hospitality. We give them dinner on the Saturday night and they get a chance to share stories and compare notes.”

One hundred and forty trucks and tractors were on display and these came from all over the state and Victoria. Fantastic examples of both new and vintage vehicles. Unfortunately, the grand parade was cancelled because of the incredible dust storm that hit the towns around lunchtime. This was accompanied by gale force winds which meant many of the enthusiasts sought shelter.

The Times caught up with Peter Hand who hails from Camden, but formerly from Gundagai. He was soon identified as the son of well-known Group 9 referee Neville Hand. The apple did not fall far from the tree, as Peter very closely resembles his dad. Peter spoke about many of the former Harden Hawks greats such as Bernie Nevin and Eric Kuhn.
