A property in the Muttama Valley has smashed previous benchmarks at an auction in December, where the farm ‘Willows’ was sold for $11.5 million. Located between Cootamundra and Gundagai, the property stretches over 3300 acres, with the sale price valuing each acre at $3500.

Expectations were high in the lead-up to Friday’s auction, with estimates forecasting the property would be bought for well over $10 million. During the auction, the price rapidly rose to the final $11.5 million the farm would fetch.

Toby Harrop of Darlington Point came away with the keys to the property, with plans to use it for mixed-farming, running sheep and cattle, as well as cropping. The property’s consistent rainfall and fertile soils drew the eye of a total of five bidders, with Mr Harrop, a cattle, merino and cotton farmer, proving victorious.

Friday’s auction proved to be a spectacle, with approximately 85 people gathering to spectate, with those gathered ranging from neighbours, to bankers, to agronomists.
