Jesse Manwaring has been learning to fly.
Local lad Jesse Manwaring is taking to the skies, as he continues his training to become a pilot, with the ultimate goal of finding a career in the industry. Jesse has had a longterm interest in the field, stemming from when he and his Pop would attend Temora’s renowned airshows, and watch the skill with which the former warplanes were flown.
Commencing his training for a recreation pilots license around three months ago, Jesse is now on the downhill stretch, and is already looking towards the next stage of his training, a private pilots license. Jesse, who attends Hennessy Catholic College in Young, took his school’s work experience program as an opportunity to further his flying experience. He travelled to Melbourne to spend a week working with Interair, a small aviation company based at Essendon Airport.
As part of his work experience, Jesse worked with the company’s engineers, and would also take to the air, flying to South Australia, effectively piloting the plane. He also had the unique experience of flying over the MCG. Looking to the future, Jesse hopes to make a career out of his passion, with the intention of acquiring a commercial pilots license.
