Harden Hawks stalwart Chris Boyd.
The Harden Hawks will be kicking-off their 2018 season launch, this Saturday January 27 at 1:00pm at the Carrington Hotel.
The club will be holding a fundraiser for much-loved supporter Chris Boyd on the same day, after he took ill in early December.
Everyone would know Chris’ face when driving in to McLean Oval. Nick named ‘Guts’ Chris has been looking after the gate for many years with his beautiful offsider, Sharon James who is the head canteen lady for the club.
The family spent much of December by his side in hospital in Sydney.
Club President Jason Pollard said, “We wish Chris a speedy recovery and the whole club is behind him. The club is looking to build on last year’s success with Premierships in First Grade and the Youth League competitions.
“Unfortunately our League Tag side went down in the Grand Final. If you are looking at having a run with the Hawks this year, whether it is Youth League, Ladies League Tag or First Grade we would like you to attend. Existing or new players, parents, sponsors and supporters, are all welcome. Come for a few drinks and nibbles and meet our 2018 coaches.
The Hawks announced the appointment of former assistant coach Anthony ‘G’ Giannasca as their Head Coach in November for 2018. Former Coach Matt McLay will be back in 2018 with a number of talented players to bolster the local stocks.
G said, “A lot of boys are coming back next year so the roster is looking similar.”
Harden’s Will Quinn.
There are several local juniors expected to make the permanent jump to First Grade in 2018, including Will Quinn and Pat Smith.
Raffles will commence at 3pm. Meat, fuel and Carrington vouchers will be up for grabs. Anyone wishing to donate can contact Jason pollard on 0458 658 224 or see any of the committee members. HAWKS HAWKS HAWKS.
