Murray Cod: Fishing during the night to beat the heat or as the sun comes up will bring the best results. Beau O’Mara landed a 106cm fish on a trolled 150mm AC Invader back on the 8th January It looks like Tim Mathieson has been at it again with another metre plus fish caught this week and Anthony Curtis (AC Lures) picked up a fantastic 124 cm fish last night. There have been some other really good fish above 80cm also landed over the past few weeks. Trolling hard bodies and spinnerbaits seems to be the preferred method as the Cod remain deeper in the cooler water.
Yellow belly: Target trees in 10 + metres of water. Worms, shrimp & small yabbies as well as plastic grubs are all working with some big fish around 60cm being caught. Going deeper, especially through the day, will give you the best chance. Shrimp have once again become scarce so bring some with you if you can. Worms have been doing well also. Tougher going for the guys trolling with the fish holding deep on the structure.
Redfin: Heaps of small stuff about with most fisherman landing some. We found a massive school holding mid water last week, Getting the lures through the school to the bottom saw us land some better quality fish around 30cm on small blades.
