The Binalong Brahmans have appointed new coaches for the George Tooke Shield  for the 2018 season.

The club initially appointed Cole Davis from Crookwell, however, Davis informed the Brahmans last week that he was aware of some significant personal issues which may arise later in the season and felt it better to resign his appointment now, rather than compromising the Club at a critical time.

The Jersey Girls are still to be coached by Craig Phillis for 2018, however, the first graders will now have a playing coach in Pete Adam, who played for Binalong during the 2009 season. Adam later played for West Belconnen Warriors and then Harden’s Hawks. He will be assisted by Nathan Lilliard.

Brahman’s President Ben Spencer said: “I must commend Cole Davis for his honesty and integrity when he informed me in a letter early in January that he intended to resign his commission. His reason was entirely understandable and there is no way he could have known of the circumstances surrounding his decision at his appointment and Binalong wishes both him and his family well for the future.”

Adam and Lilliard suggest they may bring three or four new players with them for the George Tooke season. They are both keen to build the Club culture this year and have some very sound basic ideas about how to achieve this. Pete Adam and Ben Spencer are the only 2 remaining players from the Brahmans who featured in the famous 2GB “Continuous Call Team” visit to Binalong in July 2009.

Training will commence on Tuesday January 30th at 6:15pm. “We will start with some light fitness training to begin with” commented Adam. “Then we will have another light training and BBQ at the Rec Ground for a sign-on day on February 2nd.” The Brahmans have booked a trial match against Milton-Ulladulla Reserve Grade on the coast on March 10.
