On Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th June Muttama based arts and cultural development organisation The Wired Lab is hosting Illustrator Jessie Ford for two workshops in the Murrumburrah Courthouse. One workshop focusses on Botanical Art where you learn to observe and record the detail of nature in watercolour. The other workshop explores on Animal ‘Pet’ Portraiture where participants will learn how to create a realistic pencil drawing of their favourite pet or animal.
Originally from rural NSW, Jessie Ford is a Melbourne-based artist who works under the name of Fjord Illustration. She specialises in watercolour paintings and graphite or ink pet portraits. Since completing her bachelor of illustration, she has exhibited in numerous group exhibitions and most recently her solo exhibition, ‘Leaf’, in Melbourne. Jessie’s Tasmanian art residency on Flinders Island led her to receive the Highly Commended Award during the ReFraming Nature exhibition at the Royal Botanical Gardens in 2015. She now runs workshops, sharing her joy of art and the natural world with her community.
Jessie has the knack of being able to teach beginners through to experienced artists. Workshop participants will leave with completed artworks, and depending on the workshop they attend, new knowledge of the techniques and theories of watercolour painting and botanical drawing OR pencil drawing and portraiture.
Places are limited and cost $140 per 6 hour workshop from 10am – 4pm. Book one or both!
Workshops are to be held at the Murrumburah Courthouse and includes some materials, organic teas and coffee along with yummy home made snacks.
These workshops will be held in partnership with Harden Regional-Development Corporation and The Harden Murrumburah Arts Council.
