Trinity Catholic School’s Annual Athletics Carnival was held on Monday at Robert’s Park. Once the early morning Murrumburrah fog lifted the weather was perfect for athletics.
All the students participated with enthusiasm and great team spirit in each of their events.
Congratulations to the Blue House who were the overall winners, closely followed by the Red House and then Gold, with only 26 points separately the teams.
The House Captains prepared some brilliant chants and their leadership was impressive. The carnival would not have been possible without the overwhelming assistance given to staff by the parents and friends of Trinity. Everyone’s combined efforts contributed to a very successful and family-orientated fun day.
Congratulations to the Trinity Athletics Champions for 2017:
- Junior Champions: Sara Collins, Dean Starling and Christian Johnson,
- Runners Up: Poppy Lucas, Amber McKay and Chaz Cooper
- Intermediate Champions: Georgia Squire-Wilson and Angus Lenehan
- Runners Up: Josie Davis-Chard and Ty Leitner
- Senior Champion: Tykieta Leitner.
- Runner Up: Maddison Johnson
Angus Oldfield and Angelina Mayhew-Lang were awarded the Athletics Encouragement Awards for their participation and sportsmanship on the day.
One Trinity Athletics record was broken by Georgia Squire-Wilson who jumped 1.30m in High Jump smashing the record by 10cm.
A highlight of the day was the parents’ house tug of war contest with Red parents pulling their way to victory in the grand final against Blue. Just as entertaining was the parents’ relay with the Red house dominating again showing great speed on the track.
Twenty-six students from Trinity will now compete in the Western Region Athletics Carnival which will be held in West Wyalong on June 2nd and we wish them all the best.
