The Gundagia Council signage was removed earlier this week and so was Cootamundra-Gundagai General Manager Ken Trethewey.

Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council Administrator, Stephen Sykes, today announced that a new Interim General Manager will join the Council in June, replacing current Interim General Manager Ken Trethewey. Allen Dwyer, an experienced local government executive, will commence on Monday 5 June, bringing with him over 40 years’ experience.

Mr Sykes acknowledged the contribution of Mr Trethewey who will finish on Friday 2 June: “Ken has made a valuable contribution over the past 21 years, with 10 as the General Manager, however with what we need to achieve as a Council over the next twelve months requires a fresh approach, which is best delivered by someone new.”

“Allen is an experienced General Manager with over 40 years` service to communities in the roles of Shire Clerk, Town Clerk, CEO and General Manager, including nine years` in Murray Shire, 10 years` in Broken Hill City, 12 years` in Orange City and nine years with Hay Shire,” said Mr Sykes.

“Allen comes from a farming background in the Blayney area, which gives him a good feel for the needs of rural and regional communities. He is a keen sportsperson who places a high value on teamwork to achieve positive outcomes.

“Allen has indicated that his objective is to establish a strong team to service the needs of the community of Cootamundra – Gundagai Regional Council believing that: “A team effort is essential to maintain a stable and economically viable community.

“In order to bed down the new council and the organisation I have made Allen’s initial appointment for 12 months,” Mr Sykes added.
