The Australian Defence Force Academy has yet again forfeited their match against the Harden Hawks, which was set down for McLean Oval today.
The ADFA side has forfeited a number of matches over the last few seasons, leaving opposition teams without an opponent.
ADFA are on a military training exercise, however, the question needs to be asked of the George Tooke organisers if they should be allowed in the competition next season.
The forfeits disadvantage clubs such as Harden who often order in large amounts of food and beverages for the clashes as any home team does to cater for spectators.
The most unfortunate aspect to continual forfeits is the lack of match practice serious clubs get when that forfeit also leads in to a bye. Harden, like other top clubs in the competition such as Bungendore, are hoping to win the Club Championship and the large purse of around $4000 at the end of the season. Disruptions to their season do not assist this outcome.
ADFA will now come to Harden to play in the 2nd round on Saturday 22nd July as they loose their home ground advantage due to the forfeit.
On another note, the Carrington Hotel who has organised a DJ for tonight’s entertainment will still be going ahead. Players and supporters are asked to attend the Major sponsor.
